In this post I will share 4 signs that tell you it is time to get a personal trainer. A personal trainer can help you in many different aspects of health and fitness but knowing when to hire one can be a challenge. Let’s start with the first sign.

Sign 1: You need to be held accountable

You see it is so easy for everyone to say “I will start to lose weight” but when it comes down to it a lot of people fail.

They fail for many reasons but one is because they just don’t care anymore or no one is challenging their behaviour and so their progress starts to slip and they give up.

By hiring a personal trainer they can help you to be held accountable and can show you how your actions are negatively affecting your goals. It’s also easier to stick with a weight loss plan when you have already spent money to hire the personal trainer.

Sign 2: You have a lot of questions and need targeted advice

Personal trainers have a lot of knowledge in both nutrition and fitness.

Being able to ask questions and get the advice you need to optimise your nutrition/training to your goals will help you achieve those goals faster.

Also having a trainer critique your form when completing exercises can also save you from injuring yourself. Many trainers specialise in different areas.

Some are more focussed on fat loss, some on muscle building and so on. Its important to decide your goals before finding a good trainer that specialises in that area.

Sign 3: You just don’t know where to start

As a beginner you will not know all the answers which can mean the uphill battle is a lot steeper.

But being able to be guided by a trainer who is able to answer your questions and give you a meal and exercise plan will help you get started in the right direction.

One sign of a good trainer is they will be able to explain to you why they have given you a certain meal/exercise plan. Dont be afraid to ask your trainer questions. You’re a beginner and it’s expected.

Sign 4: You started going to the gym but need help in exactly what you should be doing

So you have your own diet setup and want to start at the gym.

Unfortunately it can be difficult going to the gym because it’s not clear what you should be doing. There are a bunch of machines and weights but what should you be doing to make progress to your goals?

Well thats where a trainer can help. They should be able to tell you what you should be doing in the gym to help achieve your goals but also to help you not injure yourself on the machines.

Having a personal trainer help you in the gym can also help remove the nervous feeling you will feel on your first few visits to the gym.
